Two artists, Queralt and Gemma, live in distant cities: Barcelona and Athens. One is the mother, the other the daughter, who is also a new mother. One calls the other, but there is no answer. As the film studies this distance, it sheds light on their surroundings: the daily work on the paintings, the light in their spaces, the reading by the window. Based on the paintings of Roser Agell and Paulina Muxart Agell, Ella i Jo is a study of the textures, bodies and colours that make up the universe of two women whose separation also gives rise to some rough edges, like a news item from home on the phone and in photos.
