Martha Cooper is a well-known photographer who has been highly acclaimed with Subway Art, a publication she co-edited and whose influence has been worldwide. But success did not come when the book was published in the 80s, but 20 years later, when the underground movement she had been part of evolved and everyone finally appreciated the great effort she had made to spread knowledge and awareness of graffiti and street art. Martha: A Picture Story allows us to discover her vitality, her energy, her joy and the passion for her work, which is demonstrated in the risks she still takes, such as chasing trains following graffiti artists willing to defy the law. This documentary not only focuses on her contribution in the past, but presents her as a living artist who has never ceased to explore new ways of claiming creative expression in popular places.
